About Us

To begin, The Hollywood and Vine Recovery Center aims to diversify access to alcohol Recovery programs. As of today, Recovery fellowships still currently lack equitable representation of Black, Latino, LGBTQ+, and People of Color cultural and life experiences. Mending this void is essential because of the way Recovery and support fellowships are designed to work: Finding hope and solution through shared experiences.

The Hollywood and Vine Recovery Center is on a mission to ensure ALL who are suffering physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, have access to the same opportunities allotted to other communities to experience self-sustaining Recovery.

More About our Founding

The Hollywood and Vine Recovery Center (HVRC) was officially established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1992 by Dr. Gloria Montgomery in the heart of Hollywood, CA. After experiencing a program of Spiritual Recovery in the 1950’s alongside some of the founding members of Alcoholics Anonymous, Dr. Montgomery has spent the majority of her life spreading alcoholic, mental, and emotional recovery to those in need. Dr. Montgomery was one of the first African Americans, and one of the first few women of any race, to recover in the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. As of today, Dr. Montgomery is 65 years Recovered from the disease of alcoholism in the program of Alcoholics Anonymous. She has since gone on to help establish various Spiritual Recovery centers in Asia, New Zealand, and multiple US states, including here in Los Angeles, CA.

Spiritual Recovery

“Our way is entirely universal; it excludes no one. It welcomes all without exception.”

“(The program) unifies us with each other and harmonizes us within ourselves…a way which each of us is free to internalize in his or her own way and at his or her own pace. In fact, as we have said, it is already within us.”

– The Twelve Steps for Everyone

A program that not only unifies us with ourselves but also with each other can lead to world peace. I Recover. You Recover. We Recover.
